Die „Media & Learning Konferenz 2020“ befasst sich mit den neuesten pädagogischen und technischen Entwicklungen im Bereich der medienunterstützten Lehre. Auf dem Programm stehen dabei zahlreiche interaktive Präsentationen, Diskussionen, Vorführungen, Gespräche und Workshops, die die neuesten Technologien, Dienste und Werkzeuge für Universitäten vorstellen und zeigen, wie Bilder und Audio in der Hochschullehre eingesetzt werden können.

Media & Learning 2020 is the place to be if you are interested in the latest developments, services and uses of media in higher education. Building on the success of last year’s conference which attracted 283 participants from 22 countries, the organisers are looking forward to a spectacular event where leading experts and practitioners will share their experiences, insights and know-how along with screenings of educational media productions in the conference cinema.

Themes

The main themes of the Media & Learning 2020 conference are:

  • Moving from lecture capture to learning capture - how video capture tools and practices can be used across multiple campuses to create interactive learning experiences.
  • Providing authentic learning opportunities by mainstreaming AR, VR and MR - exchanging ideas, experiences and apps on moving from experiment to the everyday use of AR, VR and MR in higher education.
  • Planning effective institutional media policies - managing media resources from creation (legal terms for uploading, opt-in/opt-out), provisioning (life span, visibility) to long term handling (storage, deletion), centralised vs de-centralised services and successful service models.
  • Harmonising media-based assignments - exploring how best to equalise and standardise certification, recognising the differences with traditional assignments in higher education.
  • Fly-on-the-wall recording in educational settings - coaching and observation, the use of 360° recording and eye-tracking, how best to capture learning in classrooms and other settings.
  • Ensuring equal access to learning with media based services - the competences and strategies needed to meet the pedagogical and technical goals identified in recent European legislation.
  • Communicating research - the changing role of video as a tool to capture and present research findings.
  • Developing educational media that can be shared and reused - sharing practices and opportunities for the creation of sustainable media-based knowledge pools in intra and inter-institutional settings
  • Adding value to media content with AI - using AI to enhance access and searchability as well as personalising media based learning through the use of bots and other manifestations of machine learning.
  • Balancing DIY educational media production - creating effective services and policies taking into account institutional and legal requirements, technical resources and academic objectives.
  • Effectively blending synchronous online learning - experiences and practices that highlight how to combine face-to-face with online to create seamless learning opportunities in formal and informal settings, student experiences of media-supported learning.
  • Forecasting the future of media supported learning - technical developments on the horizon like AV over IP, 4K and 8K as well as developments in technologies such as auto tracking cameras, image and speech recognition making use of AI, etc.
